The new year is well underway and the Central Alberta Hockey League is in full force as Taber Oil King teams look to add points in the second half.
U13
There were plenty of goals over the two games for the U13 Taber Oil Kings this weekend. On Saturday, the team was on the road to Redcliff to kick-start the weekend. Unfortunately for Taber, the home team was able to skate out to a big lead and take it 12-5. Hayden Eldridge had a pair of goals and an assist, Kash Kover had a goal and an assist, and Julian Woordman and Ryder Nielsen scored a goal each. Brodyn Sutka made 19 saves on 25 shots while Aidyn Derksen Arnel turned away 11 of 13.
The Oil Kings looked to rebound on Sunday when they welcomed in Hanna. Both teams scored plenty of goals, but the Oil Kings were able to carve out an 11-9 win. Nielsen had five goals and two assists in the win, Eldridge had two goals and five assists, Woordman had a hat trick and an assist, Jenner Workman and Seth Jespersen had two assists each, and Cole Swanson had a single goal. Brodyn Sutka made 31 saves on 40 shots in the Taber net.
Next weekend sees another two games for the U13 Oil Kings as they take on Brooks in Vauxhall at 6:30 p.m. and then they head to Hanna on Sunday for a noon game.
