The Central Alberta Hockey League’s tiering round continued this past weekend and all Oil King teams were in action.
U15 Tier 3
After winning their first two games on the season, the U15 Oil Kings continued their winning streak this past weekend as they took on Lethbridge and Brooks on the road.
On Saturday, the Oil Kings scored five straight goals and eventually won 6-3 against Lethbridge White. Konnor Wiebe had a pair of goals and an assist, Ayden Umbach had two goals, Raiden Koizumi and Lincoln Wiebe had a goal each, and Jasper Sidam, Carter Kerkhoff, and Ty Dorin all had an assist. Dorin was solid in net posting 18 saves on 21 shots.
On Sunday, the team looked to win their fourth straight against Brooks. With five goals across the second and third periods, the Oil Kings were able to pick up a 5-3 win. Konnor Wiebe had a hat trick, Sidam had a goal and an assist, Koizumi chipped in with a goal, and Lincoln Wiebe had an assist. Dorin was great in net turning away 41 of 44 shots.
U18 Tier 3
It was a rough weekend for the U18 Oil Kings as they had a pair of tough tests in Magrath and Pincher Creek. On Saturday, the team travelled to Magrath and the Chiefs handed Taber an 11-3 loss. Kellen Lauwen, Blake Rabusic, and Evan Untereiner had the three Oil King goals. Mason Van Seters was between the pipes for Taber and the netminder made 39 saves on 50 shots.
Sunday saw another lopsided loss for Taber as Pincher Creek came to town and claimed a 15-2 win. Walker Skiba had both Taber goals while Matteo Blasetti, Lauwen, Brant Allen, and Tanner Fletcher had an assist each. Van Seters was back in net and the goalie turned away 35 of 50 shots.
