A southern Alberta product was part of Day 1 of the NHL free agency feeding frenzy last week.
Taber’s Brandon Davidson signed a one-year, $700,000 deal with the Buffalo Sabres as the first day of signings wound down. The six-foot-two, 208-pound defenceman, who turned 29 Aug. 21, went pointless in seven games with the Calgary Flames and scored three goals and 20 points in 34 games with the Flames’ AHL affiliate Stockton Heat.
Davidson was traded to the San Jose Sharks Feb. 24 and was pointless in five games.
Davidson has played in 174 NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks in addition to the Flames and Sharks. He has nine goals and 23 points over that span.
