Bantam “AA” Suns take bronze

Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns won the bronze medal at a tournament in Medicine Hat this past weekend.

The Suns beat Calgary Blackhawks 5-4, with Rylan Millo notching two goals, including the game winner with 21 seconds left in the game. Nathan Verloop also had two goals and Brinely Degenstein scored a single. Landon Porteous earned the win in net.

The bantam “AA” Golden Suns were pushed to the bronze-medal game with a tight 2-0 loss to Wheatland Warriors. Scout Sidam kept the game close, being peppered with 58 shots on goal.

The Suns played three games leading up to the playoffs, which started off with a 3-2 loss to Fort Saskatchewan Rangers.Verloop and Millo tallied for the Golden Suns.

The team bounced back with a 6-3 doubling of Calgary Edge.

Verloop potted the hat trick and Millo, Degenstein and Riley Preachuk had singles. Sidam earned the win.

The Suns’ last game before playoffs was a dominating 8-2 win over Winnipeg Sharks.

Preachuk had the hat trick and Verloop contributed two goals. Millo, Degenstein and Heath Hansen had singles. Porteous had the win in net.
