Alanna Makarchuk carded an 100 to take the 2016 junior girls club championship at Taber Golf Club earlier this month.
“It’s wasn’t that good. I usually shoot mid-90ish,” said Makarchuk, who nevertheless is a student of the game, where amateur golfers who break 100 regularly on a golf course are a bit of a rarity, according to published reports in golf magazines.
She plays nearly every day during the summer at the Taber Golf Club, using her junior membership if there is not a family event.
Makarchuk also gets some extra guidance in lessons at a golf academy in Lethbridge.
“I find golf fun, I like to play,” said Makarchuk. “It’s challenging yourself. It’s you against the course.”
