W.R. Myers Rebels girls volleyball team were knocked out of the quarterfinals by a familiar foe at 3A provincials in Bonnyville.
The Rebels ended up finishing third in pool play and then eliminated by Catholic Central Cougars in the quarterfinals to cap a solid season for the team.
“It was always a battle with CCH, it was usually within a few points, it’s not like we didn’t play with them,” said Dee Schramm, head coach of the W.R. Myers Rebels varsity girls volleyball team. “It’s just the girls didn’t want to play CCH. Driving six hours, they don’t want to see a home team, they want to play someone else. But it is what it is.”
Schramm saw a lot of parity in the teams that made the playoff round.
“The top six teams, on any given day, they could have beat each other,” said Schramm as her squad went 3-2 after round-robin play.
“We had a successful season and the girls worked hard to get where they were at with their determination. Overall I’m very happy with the success the girls had this season.”
