Shooting enthusiasts both within the Municipal District of Taber and beyond, mark your calendars. The Taber Sport Shooting Complex will be holding their grand opening on Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, with a ceremony targeted for 11 a.m. at the 100-metre range.
During their regular meeting on July 14, M.D. council accepted an invitation to attend the event from Taber Shooting Foundation president Morgan Rockenbach, who extended the thanks of the foundation to the M.D. council for their support in making the facility become a reality.
“The Taber Shooting Foundation extends its gratitude to (M.D. council) for your foresight, vision, and commitment in the construction of this impressive and one-of-a-kind facility,” Rockenbach indicated.
“There is truly nothing like it anywhere in (Alberta), and we are sure this facility will attract many competitions and tourists to this area for many years to come.”
Division 4 Coun. Ben Elfring said the 100-metre shooting range is open, while the rest of the ranges are just waiting on certifications.
He said the 100-metre range was certified last year.
Elfring noted invitations are expected to be sent to a number of organizations, local municipalities, and local MLAs as well.
The Taber Sport Shooting complex is located 10km north on Hwy 864, as measured from the intersection of Hwy3 and Hwy864 (at the Rocky Mountain Equipment corner).
