Time is ticking down to get in your registration for the upcoming Southern Alberta Summer Games as it looks like increased numbers are trickling in.
“This week we have had more people signing up which is good to see. People are beginning to feel the deadline. We know people are busy and it’s a busy time of year, but we hope people will make time to come in and register and commit to the Games,” said Courtney Moser, Southern Alberta Summer Games co-regional director for M.D. of Taber.
As of Monday afternoon, the M.D. of Taber region was just short of 50 individual athletes.
“But that doesn’t include any of our baseball or soccer teams,” said Moser, adding the M.D. region usually has a large presence at the Games with around 275 athletes each year. “We hope the M.D. of Taber can rally in the next week to build our team.”
Southern Alberta Summer Games are being held in Claresholm this year from July 8-11. Locally, registrations will be accepted until Monday, June 8.
Registration is in the Grey Room of the Taber Community Centre from Monday until Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
For athletes interested in track and field events, practices began on Monday and will occur every Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Dr. Hamman/St. Patrick’s track.
