St. Mary’s continuing impressive badminton run

St. Mary’s School has had a solid badminton season so far, winning two banners in the process as the team prepares for zones.

Here are the results from last Wednesday’s County of Lethbridge Junior High Championships:

Grade 9 Juvenile Category:

Boys Singles: Kaleb Muller – Gold

Girls Singles: Mirthe Kleinjan- Gold

Boys Doubles: Riese Nevil and Logan Kiss – Gold

Girls Doubles: Jordan Baynham and Taylor Marchuk- Gold

Mixed Doubles: Andrew Meisner and Rae-Anne Vayro – Gold

Won Team Aggregate Banner: Juvenile

Grade 8 Midget Category:

Boys Singles: Jobert Cruz – Gold

Girls Singles: Leila Pacleb- Silver

Boys Doubles: Mason Muller and Linden Gouw – Gold

Girls Doubles: Hannah Adra and Guianne Rodrigo- Silver

Mixed Doubles: Cobe Cobarrubius and Jalla Cabrera – Silver

Won Team Aggregate Banner: Midget Team

Grade 7 Bantam Category:

Boys Singles: Rory Murphy – Bronze

Girls Singles: Shayne Salazar- 4th

Boys Doubles: Carl Rodrigo and Spencer Phillips – Gold

Girls Doubles: Emily Ginther and Nichole Montemayor- Gold

Mixed Doubles: Ryan Hewitt and Chayla Astalos – Bronze.

Earlier in the month St. Mary’s School and Notre Dame Academy of Medicine Hat held its Third Annual Mega Badminton Tournament.

The Mega Badminton Tournament is far and away the largest junior high badminton tournament in southern Alberta.

Having almost 500 players representing 25 schools, just under 900 games were played over the two days as St. Mary’s School from Taber was the aggregate champion.
