Novice Oil Kings advance in playoffs

Taber Initiation 2 Oil Kings had a solid run at a tournament in Coaldale with a 2-0-1 record.

The Oil Kings started off with an 11-7 win over Foothills Lightning on Saturday. Roman Pavka and Sam Tolsma had hat tricks and Tage Jensen, Wieler Krahn, Blake Rabusic, Tyson Church, and Lincoln Wiess all had singles.

The Oil Kings proceeded to tie Okotoks Oilers 8-8 later on in the day. Jensen had a hat trick and Pavka and Tolsma had two tallies apiece. Church notched a single.

Taber Initiation Oil Kings 2 finished its tournament run with an 11-8 victory over Lethbridge Lightning.

Church and Pavka both had hat tricks, Wieler and Tolsma both hat two goals apiece and Jensen notched a single.

Taber Initiation 1 Oil Kings were involved in two close games over the weekend, starting off with a narrow 11-10 win over Lethbridge Chargers. Langdyn Cummins and Nathan Planger both had three goals apiece. Kayden Kress had two goals and Rex Bell, Max Anderson, and Tanner Fletcher all had singles.

Taber Initiation 1 Oil Kings followed up with a 7-6 loss to Brooks. Planger had three goals and Cummins had two goals. Bell and Anderson both had singles.

NOVICE: Taber novice 1 Oil Kings advanced to the next round of “B” playoffs with a 15-10 win over Vauxhall at the Taber Arena.

Kade Duell had four goals to go with three assists. Connor Eldridge also had four goals. Heath Hansen contributed two goals and four helpers. Ainsley Duell   had two goals and Jaxson Coutts, Owen Ruggles and Logan Snyder all had singles. Vance Kramer, Hayden Span and Hunter Damberger had assists.

Earlier the team beat Vauxhall 10-2 in Vauxhall on Saturday.

Kade Duell had four goals to go with two assists. Hansen and Eldridge both had hat tricks. Ainsley Duell, Damberger and Span had assists.        

BANTAM: Taber Tier II bantam Oil Kings lost both its playoff games this past week, eliminating themselves from playoff contention. Saturday’s tilt was a 4-2 doubling at the hands of Chestermere Lakers. Kevin Turner and Gavin Hoskins scored for Taber with an assist from Quinn Slezak. On Sunday the Oil Kings were shutout 1-0.
