Fun Run taking registrations

Kicking off the Cornfest Saturday will be the 21st annual Fun Run which will see runners in the community pit their athletic prowess against their fellow citizens.

The Fun Run starts at 8:45 a.m., with a starting point in front of the Aqua-Fun Centre.

“Basically, it’s a five kilometre/ten kilometre run and walk, which happens every year,” said Corley Farough, Fun Run co-ordinator for the Town of Taber.

Farough reports the run currently has about 130 registrants, but she is hoping to boost that total.

Interested runners that haven’t yet registered for the event can do so online or on the day of the event.

“It’s too late to get T-shirts now, but they can go online and register, up until Thursday, and then after that they show up there that morning and we can register them.”

Farough is looking to push the number of runners well beyond 150.

“It’s traditional for the Fun Run, and it’s the 21st annual. Usually we have about 150 registrations, so we’re trying to see if we can beat that. So it’s a good way to kick off the Cornfest Saturday. It’s a good positive energy event.”

The cost to register is $32, with same-day registrations being conducted in the foyer of the Aqua-Fun Centre prior to the run.
