During their regular Dec. 15 meeting, Vauxhall town council reviewed the proposed ORRSC Regional Assessment Review Board bylaw.
CAO Cris Burns said that Bylaw 1012-25 was one of the outstanding items from the municipal inspection.
“They’re a large group, they had to rewrite the bylaw for everybody,” said Burns.
The bylaw allows the town to establish a regional assessment review board and appoint a chair and clerk for it. More specifically, it allows the town to work with the Oldman River Regional Services Commission and municipalities within the region to exercise the functions of a Local Assessment Review Board (LARB) and a Composite Assessment Review Board (CARB), which reviews assessment notice complaints for properties under sections 460.1(1) (LARB and 460.1(2) (CARB) unless outlined in the Municipal Government Act section 460.1. It also outlines the duties and responsibilities of the boards, clerk, and chair, when hearings are held, and conflict of interest process.
Council passed all three readings of the Regional Assessment Review Board bylaw.
