Taber Chamber names Pinnacle as Business of the Year

Pinnacle Sod, Landscaping and Tree Care in Taber is the winner of the 2025 Business of the Year Award from the Taber Chamber of Commerce.

“We are truly honoured to receive the Business of the Year award,” said Steve Van Geest, Owner of Pinnacle Sod, Landscaping and Tree Care. “This award reflects the hard work of our entire team and the support we’ve received along the way. Winning this award highlights our team’s dedication, reinforces our commitment to quality, and strengthens our connection with the Taber community.”

Van Geest said that Pinnacle Sod, Landscaping and Tree Care was started in 2007, with the original goal of operating a shrub and tree nursery; and the business was first based out of his dad’s feedlot, Big Bend Feedlot, where a small nursery was established. 

In those early years, Van Geest stated, Pinnacle took on whatever work was available, including small landscaping projects, tree pruning, and mowing jobs. However, Van Geest says, not long after that, Nick Van Geest joined the company after completing his arborist certification, allowing Pinnacle to expand its tree care services. 

In 2009, Van Geest said, Pinnacle purchased a small parcel of land just south of Taber, which is the company’s home today. Since then, Van Geest also said the business has grown into a multi-stream operation specializing in landscaping, tree care, irrigation installation and repairs, landscape maintenance, hydroseeding, and snow removal for both residential and commercial customers — all while staying true to their roots by growing trees, shrubs, and sod for wholesale, retail, and use in personal landscape projects.

“We are proud to call Taber home and are grateful to be part of such a strong and supportive community,” said Van Geest.

The 2025 Taber Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner and Presentation will take place on January 23, 2026 at STARS on 54th in Taber.
