Taber local wins big on $1 million scratch and win

Laredo (Larry) Joblonkay was in disbelief after winning $1 million on a $100 Luxe Multiplier scratch & win ticket.

The Taber local said he’s been playing lottery tickets and scratch & win since 1972.

Joblonkay stopped at a store to check a “big stack” of tickets under the scanner—he’d been saving them up.

“I got to the very last ticket and saw a number with six zeroes and thought the scanner must be broken,” he laughed. “I was with my wife and son, and I checked the ticket again to show them.”

“My son had some choice words I won’t share, and my wife and I were completely speechless,” he said. I was in complete shock and disbelief!”

Joblonkay said he’s got some ideas in mind already to enjoy the windfall.

“We are thinking of taking a family cruise to Hawaii—maybe a trip to see the Dallas Cowboys play—and make some investments as well,” he said. “We’re still deciding what we’ll do!”

“It just feels amazing to win,” he added.

Joblonkay purchased his winning $100 Luxe Multiplier scratch & win ticket from Johnson Drugs at 5204 48 Avenue in Taber.
