Candidate Leanne Friesen responded to the request for a candidate profile by saying she’s proud to call Taber her home. “This town isn’t just where I live—it’s where my story began. I grew up here in a business-owning family that taught me the importance of hard work, service, and community. For the past 21 years, my husband Dustin and I have built our life here, raising our three kids and putting down roots that run deep.”
Residents may know Friesen through her business, Escape Salon, which she has owned and operated for the past 14 years. Beyond her work she’s a familiar face at the rink, the gym, and the ball diamond. She has served on boards for minor hockey, gymnastics, minor ball, and helped start the Taber Thrashers lacrosse club and the Jr. B Chaos team. She has also coached volleyball at both the high school and club levels for the last five seasons.
“All of these experiences aren’t just bullet points on a list—they represent something that’s really important to me: teamwork,” she said. “Whether it’s building a business, supporting youth sports, or bringing people together for a common goal, I’ve learned that when we share a vision and work as a team, we can achieve amazing things.”
Friesen wants to bring that same spirit to town council. “Over the last while, I’ve been listening to what matters to you—concerns about transparency, about how our tax dollars are being spent, and about making sure that every voice in our community is heard. And I want you to know: I hear you.”
Her promise is to bring common-sense decision-making, financial responsibility, and a collaborative approach to council. “I don’t believe any one person should—or could—have all the answers. But I do believe that together, with respect and accountability, we can make decisions that reflect the best of Taber,” she said.
“I’m asking you to join me in building a council that represents the true strength and potential of our town. I’m ready to be a great teammate for Taber—and I would be honoured to have your support.”
