Jennifer Crowson is filing a notice of intent to continue on as a Horizon School Board trustee when the election arrives on October 20. As a resident of Ward 2, she will again represent Vauxhall/Hays if selected. She has been a trustee since 2010 and lived in the area for 25 years.

Crowson said she has appreciated the opportunity to serve her community as a school board trustee and would be honoured to continue in the role.

“I’m committed to representing my friends, neighbours, and families in our ward, and I look forward to working with the new superintendent,” she said. “I especially enjoy visiting schools and classrooms and having the chance to share about local governance. I bring a strong connection to the community and a deep commitment to the success of the division as a whole.”

In the upcoming term, she sees increasing student enrollment as a priority, and believes strong schools are vital to keeping local communities vibrant.

“They truly are the hub of our communities,” she said. “I’d like to build on the progress we’ve made, while also working with the board to identify any gaps and ensure we’re meeting the evolving needs of our students and schools.”

Seven members will sit on the board of trustees, and Crowson is one of several who have been invested in the division’s success for many years. The six other trustees will represent Taber (two), Grassy Lake, Lomond/Enchant, Milk River, and Taber/Barnwell.

Nominees must submit forms signed by at least five electors, be residents of the school board on the date they signed the form, and be eligible to vote in the election. Candidates are also required to submit campaign financial documents and pass a criminal record check.
