Dr. Hamman Elementary School in Taber will host their third annual Fine Arts Showcase on April 16 at 1:30 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. at various places within the school.

“This Fine Arts Showcase evening allows us to celebrate the talents and skills of our students who have a passion for the Arts,” said Alyson Archibald, Principal of Dr. Hamman Elementary School.

Archibald says that the performances involved in the showcase will take place in the Dr. Hamman School Gym while the art will be displayed in the gym and in the hallways adjacent to the gym.

The Dr. Hamman Fine Arts Showcase, Archibald says, will feature musical performances from the school choir, grade five ukulele players, and the Drama Club will present ‘Treasure Island: A Radio Play.’ Archibald says that the art displayed during the event will be a variety including one point perspective cityscapes, Minecraft self-portraits, a tree of life mural, 3D name plates, and undersea creatures’ mural.

“The artists and actors are all students in the school and these groups are hosted by our teachers and parent volunteers,” said Archibald.

In addition to that, Archibald says, the Parent Advisory Council will be hosting a bake sale fundraiser in the Dr. Hamman Library from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Archibald emphasizes that the event ‘evolves every year based on past learning’, and that Dr. Hamman School is so grateful for staff and parents who give their time to allow for fine arts clubs to be offered.

“We are grateful to the Dr. Hamman Parent Advisory Council for their ongoing support of our fine arts programming, including funding the sound system rental for the performances, our choir uniforms, annual symphony trips and supplies,” said Archibald.

“We could not offer these opportunities to our students free without them. We love to showcase our students’ learnings and talents. Therefore, all are welcome for either performance of the showcase. This year is the first year we are hosting an afternoon performance, and we look forward to having many from the community attend as all are welcome!”
