North American Seed Fair results from Ag Expo

One of the features of Lethbridge Ag Expo 2025 was the North American Seed Fair powered by Seed World Canada that showcased over 25 classes of Pedigreed Seed, Open Classes, and Junior Classes. 

The winner of the 10th Annual Edwin Kiffiak Memorial Award, which is given yearly for ‘excellence in the field of Pedigree Seed Production and Demonstrating Community Involvement in Southern Alberta’ was Julie Sisson.

The Grand Aggregate Winner of Pedigreed Grand Aggregate Classes 1-12 was Stamp Seeds in Enchant. Stamp Seeds also won awards in the Champion Pedigreed Cereal Crop category in Classes 1-8, and the Champion Pedigreed Pulse Crop category in Classes 9-10.

Bantry Seeds won the award for the Champion Pedigreed Forage Seed in Classes 11-12, DeKok Farms won the award for Classes 13-15 in the same category and Mya Willms won the Junior Aggregate Award in Classes 16-23.

For Class 1, Pedigreed Spring Wheat, Specialty Seeds Ltd. from the Bow Island area took 1st place, Crooymans Seed Farms near Bow Island took 2nd place, and Stamp Seeds in Enchant took 3rd.

For Class 2, Pedigreed Winter Wheat, Ryan Mercer of Mercer Seeds Ltd. of Lethbridge County took 1st place, Chin Ridge Seeds Ltd. of Taber took 2nd place, and Stamp Seeds took 3rd place.

For Class 3, Pedigreed Durum Wheat, Jason Welsh took 1st place, Stamp Seeds took 2nd place, and Chin Ridge Seeds took 3rd place.

For Class 4, Pedigreed Combined Wheat, Chin Ridge Seeds took 1st place, and Stamp Seeds took 2nd and 3rd place.

For Class 5, Pedigreed 2 – Row Barley, Witdouck Farms from Iron Springs, Alberta took 1st and 2nd place while Dallas Klapstein near Calmar, Alberta took 3rd place.

None entered Class 6 – Pedigreed 6 – Row Barley

For Class 7, Pedigreed Oil Seed, Stamp Seeds took 1st place, Ryan Mercer took 2nd place, and Specialty Seeds took 3rd place.

For Class 8, Pedigreed Oats, Triticale, and Rye, Stamp Seeds took 1st place, Ryan Mercer took 2nd place, and Lee Markert near Vulcan, Alberta took 3rd place.

For Class 9, Pedigreed Dry Peas, Chin Ridge Seeds Ltd. took 1st and 2nd place while Lee Markert took 3rd place.

For Class 10, Pedigreed Forage Seed, Stamp Seeds took 1st place, Chin Ridge Seeds Ltd. took 2nd place, and Stamp Seeds took 3rd place.

For Class 11, Pedigreed Alfalfa Seed, Bantry Seed Farms Ltd. took 1st place.

For Class 12, Pedigreed Forage Seed, Sunshine Seeds Ltd. west of Magrath, Alberta took 1st place and 3rd place while Monarch Feeders in Monarch took 2nd place.

For Class 13, Alfalfa Hay, DeKok Forage took 1st and 2nd place while Sandberg Farms took 3rd place.

For Class 14, Grass and Grass Legume Hay, XL Bar Ranch from Bow Island took 1st place, Bar None Ranches from Dewinton, Alberta took 2nd place, and Luke Hummel took 3rd place.

For Class 15, Timothy Hay, Roekel Farms took 1st place, S-5 Farms took 2nd place, and Williamson Farms took 3rd place.

Classes 16 to 23 were Junior Classes.

For Class 16, Hard Red Spring Wheat and Hard White Spring Wheat, Russell Bolstad took 1st place, Mya Willms took 2nd place, Ethan Hofer took 3rd place, Paul Stamp took 4th place, and Abigail Stamp took 5th place.

For Class 17, Soft White, Extra Strong, and Prairie Spring Wheat, Mya Willms took 1st place and 3rd place, Abigail Stamp took 2nd place and 5th place, and Julia Stamp took 4th place.

For Class 18, Durum Wheat, Mya Willms took 1st place, Abigail Stamp took 2nd place, Lois Bolstead took 3rd place, Ethan Hofer took 4th place, and Raylene Mercer took 5th place.

For Class 19, Winter Wheat, Abigail Stamp took 1st place, Mya Willms took 2nd place, Julia Stamp took 3rd place, and Raylene Mercer took 4th place.

For Class 20, Triticale and Rye, Mya Willms took 1st place, Julian Stamp took 2nd place, Russell Bolstad took 3rd place, Abigail Stamp took 4th place, and Paul Stamp took 5th place.

For Class 21, Oats and Barley, Mya Willms took 1st place, Abigail Stamp took 2nd place, Paul Stamp 3rd and 4th place, and Julia Stamp took 5th place.

For Class 22, Oilseed, Raylene Mercer took 1st place, Julia Stamp took 2nd place, Mya Willms took 3rd and 4th place, and Abigail Stamp took 5th place.

For Class 23, Pulse Crops, Mya Willms took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, Abigail Stamp took 4th place, and Paul Stamp took 5th place.

For the Seed Cleaning Plant Competition, there were two categories: Quality of Seed Class and Quality of Seed Treatment. Gold Market Seed took 1st place, Seed Farms 23 Inc. took 2nd place, and K3 Seeds took 3rd place in Class 24 – Quality of Seed Class while Stamp Seeds took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in Class 25 – Quality of Seed Treatment.
