During the M.D. of Taber Council meeting that took place on November 12, Administration brought a Request for Decision to Council regarding an application from the Lethbridge and District Exhibition Agri-Food Expo to the M.D. of Taber’s Community Organizations, Programs, Events, and Activities Policy.
“They have an ask for a partnership opportunity for their event in Lethbridge,” said Bryce Surina, Director of Community Services.
Surina explained to Council that the partnership opportunity involved different levels of donation, and the different levels represent different levels of participation in the event.
“The goal of Expo is to provide the Agri-food industry with an opportunity to gather and celebrate food production, share information, learn and grow, and most importantly to network with other like-minded food industry professionals,” said Surina, quoting from a handout about the event.
The Lethbridge and District Exhibition Agri-Food Expo, Surina stated will run from November 26 to 28, 2024 in Lethbridge and the partnership opportunities associated with it are extensive. Information about those opportunities, Surina stated, can be found at: https://agrifoodexpo.ca/partnerships/.
Surina did also confirm that the M.D. of Taber has communicated with the Lethbridge and District Exhibition Agri-Food Expo about the other partnerships they have in place and those include the County of Lethbridge, the M.D. of Willow Creek, and a few other municipalities.
Following a brief discussion on about the event and how the M.D. of Taber might benefit from becoming involved in the future, Councillor Claasen made a motion that the M.D. of Taber approve a $2,500 donation to the Lethbridge and District Exhibition Agri-Food Expo in response to their application to the M.D. of Taber’s Community Organizations, Programs, Events, and Activities Policy and the motion was carried.
