Missing woman may be camping/kayaking down the South Saskatchewan River

Lethbridge Police have received new information suggesting a missing 40-year-old woman may be somewhere between the Grand Forks Campground and Medicine Hat along the South Saskatchewan River.

Following a media release Monday, Aldea Margret Tillmans’ dark blue BMW SUV was located in the Taber area near a boat launch. Her kayak was no longer attached and police believe she is kayaking down the river. Police also obtained new photos of Tillmans and her camping gear that were taken Aug. 12.

LPS and RCMP are working collaboratively and a search will be conducted along the river. Police are asking all landowners between the Grand Forks Campground and Medicine Hat to check their properties. In addition, other campers and those using the river for recreational purposes are asked to be on the lookout for Tillmans.

At this time, there is no evidence to suggest foul play, but police have been unable to contact/locate Tillmans and are concerned for her well-being.

Tillmans’ kayak is described as a blue and white open top single person model with “Zaleska” written on the side and her tent is orange with dark grey/black accents.

Tillmans is described as a Caucasian female, approximately 5’7” tall, 140-160 lbs. with brown eyes and long brown hair. She has a tattoo of a paw on her left leg and a heart with the words “sisters” on her right arm above the elbow.

Anyone who has seen Tillmans or had contact with her, is asked to call 403-328-4444 or the police agency of jurisdiction in the area.
