On July 15, SouthGrow Regional Initiative announced the return of the annual Agrifood Futures Scholarship Program. Three scholarships will be awarded to one student from the University of Lethbridge, one from Lethbridge Polytechnic (formerly Lethbridge College), and one from Red Crow Community College.
“This year, in addition to the SouthGrow Scholarship, we are pleased to announce the MNP LLP Scholarship and the D-Com Energy Solutions Scholarship as a part of the Southgrow Agrifood Futures Scholarship Program. Even as diverse organizations, we all share a common objective in supporting our regional agriculture and agrifood industry,” SouthGrow Director Peter Casurella said in a news release. “As such, three scholarships of up to $2,500 each will be available for students who plan to pursue careers in the agrifood industry in southern Alberta.”
SouthGrow Regional Initiative strives to accelerate and enhance the economic development and sustainability of communities within the region. It works with twenty-three south central Alberta communities for the more than 130,000 people who live in the region, SouthGrow assists by helping communities advance their economic development goals and maintain a high quality of life.
“These scholarships are designed to encourage and support the next generation of leaders in the agrifood sector, ensuring the continued growth and innovation of this vital industry in our region,” the release said.
