During a recent M.D. of Taber Council meeting, Council reviewed some correspondence they had received from Kirk Wall, STARS Very Important Patient.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for your donation to STARS,” said Wall’s letter. “Because of your support, STARS saved my life.”
In his letter, Wall explained that it was a quiet Saturday on his ranch when his peace was shattered by Bazinga, his feisty horse. When Wall calmed him, he attempted to move Bazinga away from the fence so he could remove the horse’s saddle, but Bazinga delivered a swift hind leg kick to his ribs and Wall was sent flying. The accident, Wall said, caused his left side to hurt and triggered breathing issues. His wife, Lynette, quickly drove him to hospital where he found out his spleen was ruptured due to the kick.
“I only had minutes left without critical care,” said Wall. “The moment STARS arrived, I instantly felt calm. I knew the situation was under control. No one plans to have a serious medical emergency, but when it happens, STARS can be there thanks to your support.”
Wall stated that the $7,447 donation from the M.D. means that by air, ground, or satellite link, patients for generations to come will have access to the care needed to save their lives.
“Today, I’ve recovered and I’m enjoying life with my family,” said Wall. “We are so grateful STARS was there for me that day because of allies like you.”
Councilor Harris gave a motion to accept the letter as presented and the motion was carried.
