Events to celebrate Taber Pride 2024 will run through the week of May 28 to June 1, and has the theme ‘Leading With Love.’
“The LGBTQ2s+ community is very excited for this year’s Pride,” said Kathleen McKenzie, one of the co-chairs for the Taber Equality Alliance.
McKenzie says that local art will be on display at the library for the entire week, but there will also be a Pride Trivia Night that will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 30 at Taber Public Library.
Officially, McKenzie says, Pride will be on June 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will kick off with a flag raising at the Provincial Building at 11 a.m., followed by speakers, and a gathering at Confederation Park that will include music, face painting, bouncy castle, glitter tattoos and fun.
The events for Taber Pride, McKenzie says, are organized by Taber Equality Alliance Society and the financing is done through donations, fund raising and a grant from the Canada Heritage Fund
“Taber Equality Alliance and the LGBTQ2s+ community is always hopeful for increased inclusion and visibility in Taber,” said McKenzie.
