During the M.D. of Taber Council meeting that took place on May 14, Corporate Services presented Council with a Request for Decision regarding the 2024 Property Tax Bylaw #2007, recommending that both second and third reading be given.
In their Request for Decision, Administration explained that the 2024 Property Tax Rates in the proposed bylaw reflect the following changes from the previous year’s tax rates: a decrease of 4.0 per cent in residential property tax mill rates, a decrease of 3.0 per cent in non-residential property tax mill rates, and an increase of 8.0 per cent in farmland property tax mill rates.
The Request for Decision also states Council must approve a property tax rate bylaw to raise sufficient property tax revenue to satisfy the approved budget.
“Hats off to our staff and this Council for getting to this point,” said Administration.
A motion was made that second reading be given to the 2024 Property Tax Bylaw #2007 and the motion was carried. A motion was then made that a third and final reading be given to 2024 Property Tax Bylaw #2007 and that motion was carried.
