Proposed Road 43 Street to 56 Avenue
At the Dec. 19, 2022 meeting, council passed a motion directing administration to investigate the possibility of creating “some type of road” from 43 Street to 56 Avenue.
Administration has reviewed the possibility of creating a gravel road to create the connection between the end of pavement at the north end of 43 Street and the pavement extension south from 56 Avenue. Due to the cost to complete the work and maintain the road Public Works advised against this option.
Administration entered discussions with the subdivision developer to undertake the connection. The developer is currently selling lots in Phase 6 of the subdivision. The subdivision agreement confirms the extension of 43 Street will take place during Phase 7 of the subdivision.
Administration is exploring options with the developer to advance the design and construction of the road and deep underground services, and will return to council with a recommendation including costs and other implications to advance the road construction.
