It’s been a busy few months for Taber-Warner MLA Grant Hunter as the local member has been helping out with Travis Toews’ bid to become the new UCP leader and premier of Alberta.
“I’m actually working with Travis Toews and I co-chair for his southern campaign for UCP leadership. Myself and Shirley McClellan are co-chairs in the south. That is taking up quite a bit of my time,” explained Hunter.
On top of that endeavour, Hunter has also been doing his usual work as an MLA. One of the biggest things on his plate continues to be developing the agri-food corridor in the area.
“I’m continuing to work on the agri-food processing corridor and that will be a multi-year project and there’s still lots to be done there. Things are moving along quite well,” continued Hunter.
With Taber’s Cornfest approaching rapidly, Hunter will also be back in southern Alberta for that. Coaldale also held their Summer Fest, which Hunter was planning to attend. Alongside those events, Hunter has been all over the riding hitting as many as he can throughout the summer months.
“Towards the end of June was graduations, so I was able to attend a few of those in the riding. Now we’re into parade season and I had to cancel some parades I was going to be in, but I’m going to try and get to the Coaldale and Taber parades. Those are the big ones coming up. I also hope to be in the Lethbridge parade as well. The Taber parade, I’m hopeful I can ride a hose as well,” he said. “That was a lot of fun.”
