a new year, for the Taber Child Care Centre, they were looking forward to celebrating its 40th year in operation in February.
The Taber Child Care Centre began operation and was incorporated in 1982, with its construction being highly community-oriented.
“I know we had a lot of community organizations that helped put this together,” said Wendy Einwechter, alternate supervisor. “Kiwanis helped with the sod and I remember Harry Prummel saying he helped do some of the work inside the building, so it’s definitely a community building. Lots of hands have helped us out here and lots still do.”
Program Supervisor Melissa Jenkins also added there are currently only two daycares that operate within Taber. “We’ve been around forever. There are lots of people who have been employed here over the years or come here over the years or involved in the community and you see people from 20 years ago that say they used to work here.”
