Disrespectful words can hurt

Dear Editor:

My name is Rodney. I’m a long-haul trucker and I frequently load at Taber. Recently, I was parked at the Wal-Mart. I went to walk around to get some exercise. Being a trucker is hard these days. Healthy food is hard to find. Most truck stops now only serve fast food.

Two young men in a red Pontiac pulled up to me and told me to do everyone a favour and lay off the McDonald’s! I’m trying hard to live a healthier life style, but it’s hard. I’m doing what I can, but it’s definitely disheartening when all you get is negative comments. I’d like the young guy who thought it was funny to say such a thing to know how it hurt me. I have enough problems getting motivated without negative people. But I’ll still keep moving forward.
