By now the results on Monday’s civic elections across Alberta are known and the results are analyzed, dissected, and commented on.
Locally, the election process was tested as a good number of candidates threw their hats in the ring.
I attended both the M.D. of Taber and the Town of Taber’s recent candidate forums and was equally impressed at both events with the new ideas and the passion expressed by all the candidates.
I was pleased at the common thread that was prevalent that the two municipal councils and areas work together more closely to the mutual benefit of the entire area.
Unfortunately, in all elections there are winners and losers. To the winners, congratulations as you continue the work of previous councils for the betterment of the respective area.
Congratulations also to the losers, as you also exhibited a strong desire to make our area a better place.
For you folks, my hope is that you do not view this in a discouraging way such that your interest in local politics is lessened.
For both groups of candidates, for being willing to stand up for election and give your time for very little remuneration in the interest of making Taber and district a better place to live and work, I sincerely say “Thank You”!
