Holy Spirit meeting unveils students who shine in various pursuits

At Holy Spirit Catholic School Division’s summer regular meeting of the board, trustees reviewed the accomplishments of some local division talent on the arts scene, and in agriculture, education and sports.

Taylor O’Grady (St. Mary’s, Taber)

– Received an honourable mention and a $50 cash prize for the essay she submitted to the Legion for their annual contest.

Hannah Adra (St. Mary’s, Taber)

– Won 1st place in the Grade 9 – 12 category for “Battle For The Bridge Art Contest.” Hannah received a $150 prize and also won a donation for the St. Mary School Art Program.

Nicole Caputo (Teacher at St. Patrick’s, Taber)

– Successful applicant for one of Inside Education/BP Canada’s “A+ for Energy” grants. As a result, $5,000 will be provided to St. Patrick’s School for STEM programming.

Max Nevil (St. Mary’s, Taber)

– Max’s steer won “Grand Champion” at the Taber 4-H District Show and Sale.

Gabby Miller (St. Patrick’s, Taber)

– Won a dance scholarship over the June 2-3 weekend.

Adrianna Van Tryp (St. Michael’s, Bow Island)

– Selected to represent the Southern Region of Alberta 4-H as an ambassador. Adrianna will be making a trip to the Northwest Territories.

The following students placed during the Alberta Tae Kwon Do Cup held in Lethbridge on June 2, 2018:

Josh Baier (St. Patrick’s, Taber)

– Bronze in Patterns

Kaden Gross (St. Mary’s, Taber)

– Gold in Sparring, Bronze in Patterns

Allison Planger (St. Mary’s, Taber)

– Bronze in Patterns, Gold in Power Breaking

Jocelyn Planger (St. Mary’s, Taber)

– Gold in patterns, silver in sparring.

Kennedy Planger (St. Patrick’s, Taber)

– competed
