Growing conditions throughout southern Alberta have been favourable early on, and Bow River MP Martin Shields is optimistic for a successful agricultural season.
“Having been out and around the last couple of weeks, the rain and precipitation throughout our riding has been pretty good,” reported Shields, who hails from the Brooks area.
“The growing conditions, people were able to get a lot of stuff planted — we don’t have the problems like further north, where the crops were snowed down. In your area, there were people seeding in March.”
Good moisture and relatively moderate temperatures are combining for an encouraging start according to the federal representative.
“But throughout the riding where I’ve been, people were able to get their seeding done, and there’s some good moisture out there for germination. On the ag side of it, we’ve got some pretty positive starts to the season around the riding. It looks good,” said Shields.
