Vipers earn top finishes at meet

There were 22 members of the Taber Viper Swim Club that hit the pool for the first meet of the 2016 season in Brooks on the weekend.

The following are a list of top-three finishes:

Jessica Anderson competed in 11-and-12-year old girls and finished in first in 50-metre freestyle (35.01), 50-metre fly (37.57) and 50-metre backstroke (40.31). She also took a third in 100-metre IM (1:30.45).

Heston Bevans was solid in his nine-and10-year-old boys backstroke events by taking second in the 50-metre (56.83) and third in the 25-metre (26.49).

Rebecca Carver earned second place in 100-metre IM (2:02.75) for nine-and-10-year-old girls.
Chance Cook earned a string of seconds in his age category for 13-and-14-year-old boys. He earned second place in 100-metre freestyle (1:06.16), 50-metre backstroke (36.35), 50-metre freestyle (29.64), and 100-metre backstroke (1:28.25).

Adison Hutzul was in the seven-and-eight-year-old category and took second in both 25-metre backstroke (26.44) and 50-metre backstroke (55.12). She also earned third in 25-metre freestyle (22.53).

For six-and-under girls, Kaylee Hutzul was third in 25-metre flutterboard (37.50).

Taylor Hutzul was third in 100-metre IM (2:09.49) for nine-and-10-year-old girls.

For six-and-under girls, Mikayla Kress took second in 25-metre backstroke (31.89) and third in 25-metre freestyle (38.99).

Lauren Pack’s time of 1:23.29 was good enough for third 11-and-12-year-old girls 100-metre freestyle.

Dana Poole won first in both 50-metre backstroke (33.96) and 100-metre backstroke (2:08.11), while taking seconds in 50-metre freestyle (43.35) and 100-metre freestyle (1:51.37) for 18-and-over boys.

Competing in 15-to-17-year-old girls, Renae Saunders was first in 50-metre backstroke (37.40) and had a trio of second-place finishes in 100-metre IM (1:20.91), 50-metre fly (33.07) and 200-metre freestyle (2:39.72).

Tayla Silver finished in second in both 100-metre freestyle (1:22.66) and 50-metre fly (40.46) for 11-and-12-year-old girls. She also earned third in 50-metre freestyle (35.27).

For seven-and-eight-year-old girls, Petra Tymko was first in 25-metre backstroke and third in 50-metre backstroke (59.03).

The Vipers are in Claresholm this weekend for a two-day meet.
