Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns (3-3) earned the split in its two games of South Central Alberta Hockey League competition over the weekend.
The team’s homestand featured an 8-5 win over Olds Grizzlys (2-3-1) on Friday night at the Taber Arena.
Brandon Langridge and Brock Palmer each had two goals apiece. Linden Gouw, Kaleb Many Fingers, Brant Mack and Kaden Fujita recorded singles.
Mack, Logan Middleton and Palmer each had three helpers in the win. Many Fingers, Ace Wenbourne, Tanner Turcato and Hunter Johnson recorded single assists. Broc Merkl was under siege in net, recording the win by facing 72 shots.
Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns were then edged 5-4 by Central Selects (1-4) on Saturday night at home, surrendering three unanswered goals in the third period in the process.
Langridge had the hat trick and Clay Nevil had a single. Palmer drew two assists and Wenbourne had a single helper.
Seth Graham took the loss in net for the midget Golden Suns, facing 27 shots.
Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns are on the road this weekend with a Saturday tilt against West Central Tigers and a Sunday game against Red Deer Elks.
BANTAM: Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns earned three points in the South Central Alberta standings in weekend play.
Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns (3-2-1) doubled up Okotoks Oilers (4-2) 2-1 on Saturday on the road. Seth McCulloch potted both Suns goals who got assists from Grady Honess and Mason Sande. Brayden Peters earned the win in net for the Golden Suns, facing 17 shots.
Sunday’s tilt saw the Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns skate to a 1-1 draw with Wheatland Warriors (5-1-1) on the road. Kole Fujita scored for the Golden Suns who got an assist from Brandon Hauck. Owen Meyer faced 19 shots on net to earn the tie for the Golden Suns.
Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns have a homestand this weekend with a Friday game against Airdrie Lightning at 8:30 p.m. at the Taber Arena. The team then hosts Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Taber Arena.
PEEWEE: Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns (4-2) were victorious in both of its games in SCAHL play on the weekend.
The first was a 7-5 win over Foothills Bisons (0-6-1) on the road on Saturday in a home-and-home series. Rylen Roersma, Nathan Verloop and Carter Deboer all had two goals apiece for the Suns. Dylan Granson had a single. Verloop, Jed Magarrell and Gerret Harty each had two assists apiece. Deboer, Carson Haynes, Carson Cleland and Roersma each had single assists. Scout Sidam faced 27 shots on net to earn the win.
The team proceeded to win 6-3 over Foothills on Sunday at the Taber Arena. Roersma and Nolan Price each had two goals apiece.
Verloop and Braeden Sheppard each had singles. Harty, Granson, Cleland, Harty and Colby Garner had assists. Brenden Olson faced 29 shots on net to earn the win for the Golden Suns.
Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns host Olds Grizzlys on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Taber Arena.
