Taber Motorsports Park will have some gems of high-octane action this weekend with the ATV Triple Crown.
“We used to have it here a few years ago, so we’re bringing it back to Taber,” said Teri Hansen, co-organizer of the triple crown event in Taber and race director. “It hasn’t been here for a few years and we like to rotate it around in the south and the last couple of years we’ve had it in Brooks.”
The race goes Aug. 8 where competitors will hit the track at around 9:15 a.m. for the full-day event. Admission is $10. Racers who still want to compete, can do so by going to http://www.atvtriplecrown.com.
Hansen added locally, the number of quad riders for ATV has dropped off a bit, but for those wanting to take in some high-speed entertainment, there will be plenty for everyone to go around. Racers range from four years old to those in their 60s.
“It’s pure adrenaline. It’s a motocross ATV event on four wheels,” said Hansen. “The quads go from minis right to pro, ladies classes and vet classes. We have 12 classes in total.”
The Triple Crown circuit makes its way all over the province. After Taber, the circuit will go to Rocky Mountain House and a doubleheader in Calgary. The Triple Crown has already had races in Whitecourt and Cold Lake.
