I was shocked to read the article voicing concerns about the Linden View Assisted Living facility.
My parents moved into Linden View in September 2012 and my whole family was impressed with the care and concern that was expressed and demonstrated by Michelle Day and the Linden View staff. My mother was suffering from congestive heart failure and died in April 2013. During her residency she made Linden View her home and received what the family thought was care above and beyond the call of duty. Her last weeks were spent in the equivalent of palliative care at Linden View and my whole family deeply appreciated the tremendous support my mother received, as well the support offered to the family.
We never saw any evidence of bullying of any sort by anyone and never felt even a hint of “an atmosphere of bullying, intimidation, and harassment.”
After mom died, dad was in limbo as he had not been classified to be a resident. Dad’s greatest fear was that he would be moved out of Linden View.
Linden View had become dad’s home and he had no desire to leave. Michelle Day worked tirelessly with Alberta Health Services to make this transition time unstressed for dad.
Even though he was relatively healthy, for a resident, on the day he died, the staff had checked on him at 5:30 am when he would start his daily walks in the halls of Linden View, and again at 7:30 a.m. when they found him deceased on May 31, 2014.
During my parents stay in the facility I ate meals at Linden View on a regular basis and I found them to be generally good. Some of the evening meals were exceptional. I still have a lunch guest pass in my wallet and I intend to use it when visiting old friends at Linden View.
Thanks again Michelle Day and the whole Linden View staff.
