Cawley re-elected as Vauxhall mayor

Kimberly Cawley and Marilyn Forchuk were re-elected by Vauxhall town council as mayor and deputy mayor respectively. 

Vauxhall town council’s organizational meeting on Nov. 3 marked the first meeting of council following the Oct. 20 election. Cawley and Forchuk will serve in their positions until the next organization meeting of council, which will take place in a year.

In addition to electing a mayor and deputy mayor, council also set the meeting dates for the next year.  Vauxhall council will meet twice a month, on the first and third Monday of each month, except for December, July and August, in which council will meet on the third Monday of those months. Should a meeting fall on a statutory holiday, it will be held the following Tuesday.

Council also nominated and approved their board, committee, and councillor appointments. They are, as follows:

• Mayor Kimberly Cawley: Chinook Intermunicipal Subdivision & Development Appeal Board, Vauxhall Library Board, Inter-Municipal Collaboration, Public Information Officer

• Deputy Mayor Marilyn Forchuk: Municipal Planning Committee, Inter-Municipal Development Authority, Vauxhall Library Board, Chinook Arch Library Board, Policy, Bylaw and Rate Committee, Taber & District Solid Waste Management

• Councillor Paul Ballard: Taber & District Housing, Protective Services, Vauxhall & District Chamber of Commerce, Pheasant Festival, Vauxhall Community Center Advisory, Taber & District Solid Waste Management, Regional Emergency Advisory Committee

• Councillor Shelley Deleeuw: Municipal Planning Committee (Alternate), Barons-Eureka-Warner FCSS, SouthGrow, Taber Regional Joint Economic Development, Policy, Bylaw and Rate Committee

• Councillor Russell Norris: Municipal Planning Committee, Inter-Municipal Development Authority, Oldman River Regional Services Commission, Vauxhall & District Regional Water Commission, Regional Assessment Review Board, Inter-Municipal Collaboration
