The regular season for the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) is well underway, as Taber Golden Suns teams were in action this past weekend.

U11

For the U11 Suns, it was a one-game weekend as they looked to stay undefeated in the early portion of the regular season. On Sunday, the Suns were on the road to Medicine Hat as they took on the Hounds. The Suns would head into the third period down 2-1, but thanks to four unanswered goals, they walked away with a 5-2 win.

Maddex Howg and Blake Bryan each scored twice while Carter Wiest had a goal and an assist. Parker Avison notched two assists while Heston Honess, Liam Beckie, Rhett Schooten, and Timber Davey all contributed with an assist. Tove Morgan was the starting goalie for Taber, and he made 24 saves on 26 shots.

Next AEHL action for the U11 Suns comes on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30 when they host Lethbridge Hurricanes White and the Bow Valley Timberwolves.

U13

It was a single-game weekend for the U13 squad, as they were in Medicine Hat on Saturday. Like the U11 Suns, the U13s headed into the third period, though only by a single goal. Thanks to Burke Williams’ two goals, Taber would skate to a 2-1 win. Ben Wojszel notched one assist in the win. Lance Leusink was rock solid in net with 29 saves on 30 shots.

One game comes this weekend for the U13 Golden Suns as they head to Cranbrook to face off against the East Kootenay Avalanche.

U15

The U15 Suns were also in Medicine Hat this past weekend for their lone game. Sunday’s game saw the Suns jump out to an early lead en route to a 6-4 win. Hudson Stenger led the way with two goals and two assists, Ryder Nielsen, Travis Jackson, and  Rudy Wojszel each had a goal and an assist, and Everett Kiist and Blaze Wenzel had an assist. Talen Sarathlal made the start in net and made 32 saves on 36 shots.

Next weekend sees the Suns on the road for a pair of games. On Friday evening, the Suns take on the Foothills Bisons, while Saturday sees the team take on the Red Deer Steel Kings Chiefs.

U18

Two games were on the schedule for the U18 Suns as they were on the road for both. Saturday saw the Suns take on the Lethbridge Hounds. Taber would fall behind 4-0 in the first period before battling back. Despite making it a close game, the Suns were unable to tie the game as they fell 7-5. Liam Okell scored two of the Taber goals, Nixen Miller scored and added an assist, Ryler Kiss notched two assists, Chase Stronge and Landon McEwen scored, and Grayson Biegel had an assist. Jack Lukacs made 29 saves on 36 shots in the Taber net.

Looking for a rebound, the Suns were in Calgary on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Unfortunately, the Suns were blanked 4-0 by CRAA Blue. Dakota Hurst got the start between the pipes and made 42 saves on 46 shots.

The U18 Suns will look to turn the page this coming weekend when they head back out on the road to take on the Central Alberta Selects on Saturday.
