Town approves community ideas for budget development

Town of Taber

The public participated in the Town’s first-ever budget participation that happened in August and September. 

Great ideas were received from the community and shared with Council at their Sept. 23 meeting.

Out of 38 ideas, eight were approved by Council to be referred for budget development. Those eight ideas will be taken by Administration and researched for costs, logistics, and more, and then Administration will bring all that research to Council in late 2025 for the 2026 Budget, where Council will ultimately decide the fate of the entire budget as a whole.

The eight ideas to be carried forward for more research are:

• Paving Trout Pond Road

• Lane additions in various road locations

• Community benches

• Accessibility for spectators at Ken McDonald Ball Diamonds

• Clean community initiatives

• Cat control measures

• Large item waste pickups

• Spring appliance & furniture roundup
