Tank 77 Museum will host a flea market on Sept. 6, an event that manager Taia DeBona hopes will carry over into future years. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. music, games, food trucks, kids activities, and low-cost secondhand items will be on site in the parking lot and the Aquafun Centre, which the museum has booked for the day. The pool will be closed and the parking lot will be barricaded off.
DeBona said rental tables are still available for community members who are looking for a high-exposure alternative to an at-home garage sale. “If you’re looking for some extra cash or to declutter or downsize, you can get a table and sell your own things at the event,” she said.
“We’re hoping it’s going to be a really good fundraiser for us. It’s part fundraiser, part throwing a fun event for the community,” she said.
Since the museum rebranded itself as Tank 77, DeBona has been keen on spearheading new initiatives that generate community interest and involvement. From public engagement to new displays to the work of preserving and documenting Taber’s history, DeBona has been proactive in her role and is hoping for a great turnout on Saturday.
