Taber Pride 2025 will be held the first week of June.

Organized by the Taber Equality Alliance Society, Taber Pride 2025 will feature multiple events.

The Taber Public Library (located at 5415 50 Avenue) will play home to a Gay Trivia event on Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m.

Friday, June 6 will feature the official presentation of the film Wild Bill alongside speaker Tanner James, and that event will start at 7 p.m. and also be held at the Taber Public Library.

Saturday, June 7 will kick off with the Flag Raising at 11 a.m. at the Taber Provincial Building (located at 5011 49 Avenue in Taber) and be accompanied by a performance from Francheska Dynamite. Following the Flag Raising, Pride will take place in Confederation Park and feature MC Wild Bill, music from local performers including Another Simple Solution, a bouncy castle, face painting, and glitter tattoos.

“The 2SLBGTQ+ Community is very excited for this year’s Pride,” said Kathleen McKenzie of the Taber Equality Alliance.

Pride 2025, McKenzie says, is being sponsored by the Canadian Heritage Grant, and the Taber Equality Alliance has been getting donations from some wonderful businesses in the community that they will be using for the Pride Week event.

Outside of Pride Week, McKenzie says, the Taber Equality Alliance has recently started a games night titled TEA Party, at the Taber Library on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., an event that includes tea and games. The Taber Equality Alliance, McKenzie says, attended the Sparks Fair on May 21 and also hopes to do some volunteer work at Cornfest as well as participate in the Cornfest Parade.

“We do not have a space of our own yet, but we do make use of the wonderful library to host different events,” said McKenzie of the Taber Equality Alliance’s work to stay active.

McKenzie says that the Taber Equality Alliance Society was ultimately created with a strong goal in mind.

“Our goal is to create a space in our community for sexual and gender identity minorities and the allies,” said McKenzie of the Taber Equality Alliance Society’s mission statement. “Focusing on a more welcoming and inclusive engagement, partnerships, social groups and advocacy.”
