Last week, the W.R. Myers Rebels baseball team was back on the diamond for a pair of games in the South Alberta Hockey School Baseball League Tier II division. Looking to improve on their 1-1 record, the Rebels were on the road on April 15 to take on the Eagle Butte Talons. In a high-scoring affair, the two teams were held scoreless until the fourth as the Talons took a 2-1 lead. The fifth saw an offensive explosion for the Talons as they tacked on 10 runs and took a 12-3 lead into the sixth. The Rebels would add five more runs but were unable to find a way back into the game as they fell 14-8.

The Rebels had seven hits in the loss and Tanner Bullock led the way with a double and single while Reid Swistun and Nik Binnie also had a pair of hits. Elias Cooper notched one hit.

On April 17, the Rebels came home to take on the Oyen South Central Scorpions. In another high-scoring game, the teams traded runs back and forth, but once again the opposing team scored plenty of runs in a big inning that led to a hole for the Rebels. At the end of seven, the Rebels fell 14-7. The team had another nine hits as Bullock continued to mash the ball with three more knocks. Dane DenHollander had a double and a single while Lukacs had a double, and Sam Klaas and Cooper had a hit each in the loss.

On the pitching side, Ashton Jensen pitched 3.2 innings while DenHollander pitched 3.1 innings. Overall, they struck out six hitters while allowing 21 hits and six walks.

Up next for the Rebels is a road game on April 29 against the Medicine Hat High School Hawks. The Hawks are currently last in the division with an 0-4 record. The Rebels are 1-3 after their first four games. Their lone win was a 21-6 victory against the Hawks on April 11. On May 1, the Rebels are back on the road for a rematch against Eagle Butte with the first pitch at 5:30 p.m. at Ken McDonald Memorial Sports Complex.
