Auroras play tough but come up short at Double Blue

At this past weekend’s Double Blue Tournament, Vauxhall emerged victorious on the girls side with W.R. Myers second, while on the boys side TCHS was on top with ICHS second.

Auroras Update

We travelled to Stirling for a league game this past Wednesday. Our JV team had a really close game; they went to three, but lost the third set 13-15. It was probably the best that our JV team played as a group. We are seeing lots of improvements throughout the season.

The SV Auroras also had an exciting night of volleyball going to all five games in the match.  Our first game we had a slow start and struggled to find our pass, losing the game 18-25, the second set we picked it up and took a 25-23 win. The third set we really struggled again, dropping the set 14-25. We were not passing well or finding court on our thirds. Fourth set saw the Auroras win again with a 25-23 score, the third set they again dropped the set 15-17. There were great rallies throughout the night, and lots of fun volleyball. Some standouts from the night included McKenzie Siemens had an impressive 19 aces for serves, and Kennedy Planger had 10 kills with Logan Meier adding eight.

At Double Blue we played TCHS, Vulcan, W.R. Myers JV and Picture Butte in round robin play.  We won our first two games, dropped the third to Myers and split with Picture Butte. This landed us in third place in our pool. We crossed over to play W.R. Myers who was second in the other pool in the quarter finals. We had a great first game with Myers but lost 22-25, heading into the second we were optimistic, but unfortunately our game fell apart and our team really struggled. They served us tough and we couldn’t get great passes and also had trouble finding court on thirds.

This week we travel to Lethbridge to play Winston Churchill and then to Picture Butte on the weekend to play in the Royal Rumble tournament.

We have Academic Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at the school.
