Southern Alberta Chaos open season with big win

This past weekend marked the beginning of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League and the Southern Alberta Chaos kicked off their regular season.

This year’s team sees Jared Capner return as head coach with Mike Materi, Evan Douglas, and Dave Welton on the staff as assistant coaches. The roster consists of captain Luke Sheridan and assistant captains Parker Forrest, Connor Materi, Hael Maxwell-Lyster, and Austin Sheen. Goaltenders are Jaxon Buscholl and Logan Jones. Rounding out the roster is Bauer Day Rider, Ryder Douglas, Ty Hanson, Shea Hathaway, Brock Higa, Lucas Hortness, Kayden Kress, Jett Matisho, Asher Pancoast, Grant Petronech, Evan Rieger, Owen Schnoor, Ethan Sewall, Hunter Skrove, and Brady Weasel Fat.

On Saturday afternoon, the team hit the road to Didsbury as they took on the Mountain View Stingers in the season opener.  The Chaos scored early and often as they came out firing with a 22-6 victory. Sheen led the way with 11 goals and two assists, Higa had a single goal and eight assists, Matisho had six goals and two assists, Kress had two goals and five assists, Douglas had three assists, Forrest and Hael Maxwell-Lyster each had a pair of assists, and Sheridan and Hanson each had one assist.

The Chaos return to the road next weekend as they play in a pair of games. First up on Saturday is a 12:30 p.m. game against the Red Deer Renegades. Sunday sees the Chaos wrap up their weekend with a game against the Lloydminster Xtreme at 11:30 a.m. Both games will be played in Innisfail.
