For those who may not be familiar with the purpose of the Food Bank Vegetable Garden, it is to provide vegetables for the Taber Food Bank who dispense it to needy persons and families in Taber and area as well as other food banks and similar organizations throughout Alberta.
Fortunately, this garden also provides room for people to grow their own vegetables at no cost to them except for seeds and insect control. Experienced gardeners will be available to assist.
Of necessity, it has been moved to an area about 200 metres east from the Trout Pond parking lot on the north side of the access east/west road. This garden was previously located on Huckleberry Road north about 1 km from Barnwell and served the community well for eight years.
The management structure is now under the direction of the Taber Food Bank. Organizations, businesses, all groups of any kind, individuals and families are invited to assist. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will assume the role of operating the garden day-by-day.
Contact Ray Sheen at 403-223-0774 or rcsheens@gmail.com if you wish to reserve a row or half-row in the garden. For anyone or group who wishes to work at the garden contact Ray or Andy Puskas at 403-915-8408 or ajpuskas@gmail.com.
