The following are selected briefs of the Oct. 10 meeting of Taber Town Council.
Closed Session
The following resolutions were passed at the conclusion of the in camera (closed session) portion of the meeting.
Land Sale (1): Council voted unanimously to direct Administration to proceed with the sale of 38 The Meadows lots and three The Meadows homes for the total sale price of $3,207,600 (plus GST); and directed Administration to proceed with the purchase of 32.74 acres of bare land at 5300 80 Avenue in the Eureka Industrial Park for the price of $3,207,600 (plus GST); and directed Administration to pay Douglas Bergen and Associates 50 per cent per lot (approximately $1,192,600 (plus GST), as per the Meadows Development Contract.
Land Sale (2): Council voted unanimously to accept a land sale offer of $330,000 for 2.4 acres of land at 6920 64 Street, including services to the property line and temporary access to the property over winter, and roads to be put in, in the spring of 2024.
Family and Community Support Services Waiver Request
K. Weaver, FCSS outreach services supervisor, presented a request for a discounted rental rate for the Taber Community Centre Auditorium for the Creative Leaders Youth Conference, to be held Nov. 23-24.
Council voted unanimously to approve a waiver of $483, with funds to be allocated from the Community Grants Program.
