Guests gathered in Confederation Park on Friday evening for Taber’s inaugural long table dinner which showcased the best of local produce for patrons.
Known as Taber’s Table, the evening kicked off at 6 p.m. adjacent to the Cornfest Stage with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before MC Peter Casurella provided some opening words and an interview with Lars Hirch of Pivot Spirits, a craft distillery in Rolling Hills.
While the dinner featured cocktails, hor d’oeuvres, salads and bread prepared with local ingredients, the supper entrees, which were served family-style at the table, included slow smoked tri-tip beef, grilled heritage bratwurst pork sausage with herb reduction sauce and sauerkraut, crispy triticale whiskey pork belly, and a medley of beets, carrots, potatoes and corn roasted with red onion, and finally blistered green beans.
Chefs at the dinner included Rhonda Steed of Raymond, Dara Krein, Moncef Seghaier, head chef at Lethbridge’s Watertower, and Taber’s own Tucker Pickerell, head chef at Hudsons Canada’s Pub in Lethbridge.
Billed as a first annual event and organized through the Town and M.D. of Taber, it was 18+ and tickets cost $100.
