The Alberta Smallbore Rifle Provincial Competitions took place June 2-4 here at the M.D. of Taber Sport Shooting Complex, with beginner competitors to Tye Ikeda, a member of the Canadian National Team.

“We even had a great turnout from young athletes of the Yukon North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) Rifle Shooting Team,” said Kevin O’Grady with Dusty Acres Youth Shooting Society. “They enjoyed the experience and believed our local range was cool and would love to come back again some day.”

With much learning, there was great results, and everyone having fun. The Dusty Acres Youth Shooting Society is looking at helping the Alberta Smallbore Rifle Association (ASRA) to host another competition in the fall.

“This time we will include sport rifle and hunting rifle competitions, that would cover three position and 100-yard shooting,” continued O’Grady.

Like all sports, shooting is a fun sport that takes dedication and commitment. If you would like to learn about firearm safety and how to shoot contact the Dusty Acres Youth Shooting Society, email: dustyacres2021@gmail.com or contact one of our members, or find us on Facebook.
