The 2023 Taber Spring Classic Pro Rodeo will take place on April 28 – 29 at the Taber Agri-Plex.
“It’ll have all the CPRA events,” said Tami-Jo Brewin of Rowland Farms. “Barrel Racing, Saddle Bronc, Bareback Riding, Bull Riding, Novice Bull Riding, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, Steer Wrestling, and Breakaway Roping.”
The Pro Rodeo Canada Website, rodeocanada.com, says that the rodeo will have several performances: on April 28, Slack performances beginning at 9 a.m. and on April 29, and more rodeo performances on Saturday night at 6 p.m.
“We do it over two days so everyone has a chance to come,” Brewin said.
According to the Pro Rodeo Canada website, there are many from Canada, the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand competing, including Taber locals Kayce Liptak, Tanner Turcato, Sayge Turcato, Taylor Gardner, and Kristin Nickolson. Liptak will be barrel racing and breakaway roping; Tanner Turcato will be steer wrestling; Sayge Turcato will be involved in Slack Performance #3; Gardner will be barrel racing; and Nicholson and will be barrel racing.
The full lineup of competitors is available for viewing on the Rodeo Canada website: http://www.rodeocanada.com/Draws-2023/taber-apr28-29.htm?fbclid=IwAR1NPLKcq3VmclEDf-hThLFq0tQLgmnmWrxRc7SnTD5C-GFQVpZCz41ckYk.
Brewin says that in addition to the rodeo performances, there will be Mutton Bustin’ for kids eight and under, and a bar and concession available on site. Brewin emphasizes that those who wish to participate in Mutton Bustin’ must pre-register.
Wild Rose Trick Riding will be featured as entertainment, Brewin says. According to the Facebook page for the Taber Classic Pro Rodeo, a cabaret show featuring the Border Bound Band will happen on the Saturday night after the rodeo performance.
“Miss Rodeo Taber, Jessie Ferguson, and Miss Rodeo Canada 2023, Mackenzie Skeels, will also make guest appearances,” Brewin said.
Admission tickets, Brewin says, can be bought at the gate and tickets are $15 per adult, $10 per youth, and kids eight and under are free.
