The calendar has flipped to 2023 and Taber Oil King teams returned to the ice to begin the 2023 portion of the Central Alberta Hockey League season.
U11
It was a single-game weekend for the U11 Oil Kings as they hit the road to Vulcan. It was a barn burner for both teams as the nets were filled on either side, but the home team was able to skate to a 16-10 win when all was said and done.
Logan Rabusic had a hat trick and two assists, Mitchell Kimoto had two goals and an assist, Jaxson Tychsen and Lincoln Braun had a pair of goals each, Ryden Baker had two assists, Dalan Blasetti had a goal, and Baron Stang and Cage Holcek had an assist each. Hudson Ilczynski was in net for Taber and the netminder made 11 saves on 27 shots.
The U11 Oil Kings now prepare for a single game this coming weekend as they head to Vauxhall for a noon game against the Sabres on Saturday.
U13
The break ended this past weekend for the U13 Oil Kings as they welcomed in Brooks for their first game of 2023. The visiting team was able to score tons of goals and they defeated Taber 12-3. Ryder Nielsen had two goals and an assist, Hayden Eldridge had a single goal and Cooper Broderson had an assist. Brodyn Sutka got the start in net and the goalie made 37 saves on 49 shots.
The U13 Oil Kings’ next action comes on Jan. 14 when they hit the road to take on Redcliff and then on Jan. 15, the team welcomes in Hanna.
