John Browning, foreman of Roads and Walks for Taber’s Public Works, was recently recognized for his hard work by being the recipient of the Alberta Public Works Association’s (APWA’s) Young Leader Award. According to the APWA, the award focuses on, “recognizing emerging leaders in the public works section for their fair reaching, positive impact of public works programs and services.”

“Never in a million years did I see this award coming,” said Browning. “It was a big surprise when I saw my name come up on the overhead at the awards luncheon.”

Working with the Town since 2010, Browning gave a bit of insight into his work as a foreman of Roads and Walks. “I set out daily work plans, assist with capital projects, help out community groups with special projects and event set up, organize cemetery dig orders and make sure all projects are lined up and the crew have all the materials needed to complete the tasks assigned to them.”

Working on as many projects as he is, Browning wanted to take the time to thank everyone he works with — stating none of it would be possible without the great team of people he works with everyday.
